The Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSAA) organized a public gathering in Bosaso town, bringing together the local government of Bosaso district and representatives from various sectors of the community. In a significant collaboration for regional progress, a delegation led by Mr. Itonde Abraham Kakome, President of Interpeace, paid a visit to the central office of PUNSAA today. The delegation, comprising key figures such as Ms. Renee Lariviere, Head of Projects, Ahmed Abdirahman Badiyow representing the Agency in Somalia, AU, and IGAD, and Mr. Abdirahman Bihi, Interpeace’s representative in Puntland, convened to strengthen ties and further their joint efforts. Under the overarching framework of the PUNSAA umbrella, Interpeace and PUNSAA are combining forces to champion vital initiatives centered around Democracy, Good Governance, and Civil Society Development. This collaborative endeavor underscores a shared commitment to fostering sustainable progress and positive change in the region.

The training fostered collaboration and networking among participants, drawing on their varied backgrounds to enrich discussions and perspectives. By equipping attendees with practical tools and knowledge, the session not only strengthened community engagement and governance in Harfo District but also empowered individuals to contribute positively to peacebuilding and development efforts in their communities.

During the gathering, participants engaged in dialogue aimed at identifying key areas for improvement and expansion of municipal services. The meeting aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in delivering essential services to residents by fostering collaboration between the local government and the community. Overall, the event served as a platform for constructive dialogue and partnership-building, with the shared goal of advancing development initiatives and addressing the needs of the Burtinle district community.

Puntland Non-State Actors Association-PUNSAA recently organized a two-day conflict resolution and negotiation training on the 27th to 28th of February 2024. The training took place at the PeacevHotel in Burtinle and was attended by fifty (50) participants from various Civil Society Organizations, including youth organizations, women’s groups, traditional elders, religious groups, academicians, and representatives from local authorities in Burtinle district such as members of local councils, courts, and police departments. The primary goal of the training was to provide participants with the necessary skills in conflict resolution, negotiation techniques, and effective communication. The focus was on conflict prevention and resolution in order to minimize disputes and promote peaceful dialogue among stakeholders.

During the scheduled meeting of the PUNSAA Board of Directors on February 24th and 25th in Garowe, Mohamed Nur Abdi was elected as the Deputy Chairman of Civil Society Organizations in Puntland. Following this, Mr. Mursal Mohamud Abdi, the former Deputy Chairman, assumed office as a member of the Puntland Parliament in early January. Subsequently, a brief ceremony took place at the PUNSAA General Office in Garowe, where both officials were sworn in.

The Prevention of Conflict in Traditional leaders Conference, hosted by PUNSAA with Puntland Ministry of Interior, has commenced at Garowe’s Grand Hall. The Vice President of Puntland Ilyas Lugator formally inaugurated the event.
