Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSAA) recently organized a public gathering in Burtinle town, bringing together the local government of Burtinle district and members of the community from different sectors. The primary objective of the meeting was to facilitate discussions between the community and the district administration regarding the enhancement and advancement of services offered by the Burtinle Municipal Government. During the gathering, participants engaged in dialogue aimed at identifying key areas for improvement and expansion of municipal services. The meeting aimed to promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in delivering essential services to residents by fostering collaboration between the local government and the community. Overall, the event served as a platform for constructive dialogue and partnership-building, with the shared goal of advancing development initiatives and addressing the needs of the Burtinle district community.

Puntland Non-State Actors Association-PUNSAA recently organized a two-day conflict resolution and negotiation training on the 27th to 28th of February 2024. The training took place at the PeacevHotel in Burtinle and was attended by fifty (50) participants from various Civil Society Organizations, including youth organizations, women’s groups, traditional elders, religious groups, academicians, and representatives from local authorities in Burtinle district such as members of local councils, courts, and police departments. The primary goal of the training was to provide participants with the necessary skills in conflict resolution, negotiation techniques, and effective communication. The focus was on conflict prevention and resolution in order to minimize disputes and promote peaceful dialogue among stakeholders.

During the scheduled meeting of the PUNSAA Board of Directors on February 24th and 25th in Garowe, Mohamed Nur Abdi was elected as the Deputy Chairman of Civil Society Organizations in Puntland. Following this, Mr. Mursal Mohamud Abdi, the former Deputy Chairman, assumed office as a member of the Puntland Parliament in early January. Subsequently, a brief ceremony took place at the PUNSAA General Office in Garowe, where both officials were sworn in.

The Prevention of Conflict in Traditional leaders Conference, hosted by PUNSAA with Puntland Ministry of Interior, has commenced at Garowe’s Grand Hall. The Vice President of Puntland Ilyas Lugator formally inaugurated the event. This meeting served as a platform for constructive dialogue between community and the district administration, addressing fundamental topics such as good governance, anti-corruption measures, the roles of the district administration and the community, transparency, and community-government relations. Participants were afforded the opportunity to share their insights, experiences, and recommendations on fostering collaborative efforts between the community and district administration. The gathering aimed to foster a shared understanding of how both parties can effectively collaborate towards common goals and initiatives.

Emphasizing the importance of media engagement, participants discussed ways to raise public awareness and effectively address the multifaceted needs of the community.

Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSAA), in collaboration with the TAG Foundation, convened a public meeting in Galkayo city. The event brought together diverse elements of the civil society of Galkayo District, members of the local council, representatives from the regional administration, and those from Galkayo District. The primary objective of this gathering was to facilitate the exchange of experiences, raise awareness, and ensure transparency and accountability to the community in Galkayo district and the officials representing various government councils. Notably, the meeting was also animated by the enthusiasm of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who actively participated in the elections of the Local Councils under the one man, one vote system in Puntland.

Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSAA) recently hosted its “Inclusive Diversity Event” in Qardho, drawing a diverse assembly of 300 individuals representing various facets of the community. Participants ranged from (IDPs) in Qardho district camps to city traders, peacekeepers, scholars, women, youth, individuals with special needs, and members of the district councilors. The central objective of this gathering was to facilitate an open exchange on matters concerning equality of opportunities and societal issues. Moreover, it served as a platform to advocate for community unity and solidarity, while fostering social understanding and connectivity.
